Calm Cool and Collected Nepeta Cataria Tincture 2oz
Catnip, also known by its scientific name Nepeta Cataria, and is extremely useful for many digestive complaints including gas, bloating, indigestion, spasms and nausea. Catnip also has a strong affinity for the nervous system. It works very well for stress related conditions, anxiety, depression and insomnia. Basically it has the opposite effect on humans as it does for cats.
Catnip is also a herb I keep in mind for acute feverish conditions, including childhood fevers such as chicken pox or measles. It is also an excellent decongestant, helping to relieve bronchitis like symptoms by facilitating the break down and easier expectoration of mucus. Nepeta can be used to aid the female reproductive system for conditions such as cramps, emotional symptoms related to menstruation and irregular cycles. This product is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease. We recommend that you consult with a qualified healthcare practitioner before using herbal products, particularly if you are pregnant, nursing, or on any medications.
Dose: Best taken by placing 2 droppers full into a 2oz glass of water or tea and enjoying. If concerned about the alcohol content within a tincture, place your 2 droppers full into a freshly boiled cup of tea and allow to sit for 5 minutes, this will allow time for the heat of your tea to help evaporate off the alcohol in the tincture, while imparting the medicine into your tea cup. Intended for Adult consumption only.
Contraindicated in pregnancy.
Lithium interacts with Catnip
Catnip might have an effect like a water pill or "diuretic." Taking catnip might decrease how well the body gets rid of lithium. This could increase how much lithium is in the body and result in serious side effects. Talk with your healthcare provider before using this product if you are taking lithium. Your lithium dose might need to be changed.
Sedative medications (CNS depressants) interacts with Catnip
Catnip might cause sleepiness and drowsiness. Medications that cause sleepiness are called sedatives. Taking catnip along with sedative medications might cause too much sleepiness.
Some sedative medications include clonazepam (Klonopin), lorazepam (Ativan), phenobarbital (Donnatal), zolpidem (Ambien), and others.
Catnip seems to be able to slow down the central nervous system (CNS), causing sleepiness and other effects. Anesthesia and some other drugs used during and after surgery also slow down the CNS. There is a concern that using catnip along with these drugs might slow down the CNS too much. Stop using catnip at least two weeks before a scheduled surgery.
